Health fund HCF divests from fossil fuels

HCF is the first Australian private health fund to divest from fossil fuels, pulling around $20m out of the fossil fuel industry in Australia and overseas.

HCF (Hospitals Contribution Fund) has not yet announced the move publicly, but in a letter to Market Forces dated 15 Dec 2016 stated it would be divesting from fossil fuels on the same grounds it used for pulling out of the tobacco industry.

HCF has claimed that they expect to sell all shares in fossil fuel-related companies by the end of March.
