The recent global climate talks in Paris have resulted in a new global climate agreement; one that places health at its core – recognising global citizen’s “rights to health” in the context of climate action, and also obliges countries to consider health co-benefits associated with strategies to cut emissions when choosing climate mitigation and adaptation options.

However Australia lags behind comparable countries when it comes to addressing the health risks from climate change for its’ citizens.

Executive Director of the Climate and Health Alliance, Fiona Armstrong, will discuss the Paris Agreement, share the findings from a global survey of national climate and health plans, and outline a proposal to help Australia meet its commitment under the Paris Agreement – with a National Strategy on Climate, Health and Wellbeing.
